Breakfast & Brunch Drink Gatherings

Shakin’ Mary

By Bobby Lozano

Who doesn’t love a Bloody Mary? One of Bobby’s go-to brunch drinks got a new twist. By adding Shakin’ the Tree, Bobby was able to add both citrus and heat to his drink. This Dizzy Pig seasoning perfectly blends with tomato juice and hot sauce to create an amazing mix. Serving a crowd? Throw everything in a pitcher and it refrigerates wonderfully.

Ingredients

Print Recipe

For Shakin’ Mary

  • 2 cups Vodka
  • 4 cups tomato juice
  • Juice from a whole lemon, approximately 3-4 Tbsp
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2-4 Tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 Tbsp olive brine
  • 2 Tbsp Dizzy Pig Shakin’ the Tree Lemon Pepper seasoning
  • For added heat, add 1-2 Tbsp of prepared horseradish

Optional Garnishes

  • Celery stalks, olives, lemon wedge, grape tomatoes
  • Additional Dizzy Pig Shakin’ the Tree for rimming glasses

Directions

Make Bloody Mary

  1. In large pitcher, add the tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, olive brine, and 2 Tbsp of Shakin’ the Tree seasoning
  2. At this point, you can either add the vodka of your choice or leave it out for a Virgin Bloody Mary
  3. Once the mixture is combined set aside

Serving

  1. On a small plate, sprinkle 1-2 Tbsp of Shakin’ the Tree. Run a sliced lemon over the rim of a pint glass and dip it into the seasoning. The lemon juice will work as an adhesive for the seasoning
  2. Add ice to the glass and pour to serve
  3. Garnish with your favorite toppings. I try to stay classic with olives, celery, and a slice of lemon. The fun part of Bloody Mary’s is the ability to change it up. Add sliced pepperoni, bacon, banana peppers, or whatever your heart desires
