Dizzy Pig is thrilled to announce that we have teamed up with BBQ Hall-of-Famer Ray “DrBBQ” Lampe to bring you new and exciting ways to use Dizzy Pig seasonings.

Dizzy Pig owner Chris Capell and DrBBQ are long-time friends, and the time is finally right for their paths to meet up.

We couldn’t be more excited to have Ray Lampe, “DrBBQ”, as our spokesman. I’ve known Ray for close to 20 years and he’s really familiar with our seasonings and our company. We’re just honored he wants to put his name behind Dizzy Pig. Ray’s the real deal. He tells it like it is and his accomplishments speak for themselves.

I have been a fan and friend of the company for years and I’m a big fan of their products. I really love this company because it’s a family company, home-grown. Chris has built it from the ground up and doing it his way. They have 27 different products, all unique, all great, all done at their facility in Manassas, VA. They grind it, blend it, pack it, label it — they do everything in house and nobody else is doing that, which is really cool. No copycats — these are the ones that Chris dreams up somehow in his mind. He comes up with these ideas, does his homework, and has gotten really good over the years.

About Dr. BBQ

Ray Lampe grew up in Chicago and after high school spent 25 years in the family trucking business. In 2000 the trucking business had run its course, and it was time for Ray to try something new. He had been participating in BBQ cookoffs as a hobby since 1982, so he decided to take a leap and turn his hobby into a career.

In 2000 Ray moved to Florida and began his career as an outdoor cooking expert.

Some of his accomplishments, to date:

  • Ray has written nine cookbooks and is currently working on his tenth. The most recent being “Ray Lampe’s Big Green Egg Cookbook”
  • In 2014 Ray Lampe was inducted into the “BBQ Hall of Fame”
  • In 2018 Ray opened “Dr. BBQ’s” restaurant in Saint Petersburg, Florida with Roger and Suzanne Perry
