Edenton, NC – April 2012
Day two at Edenton went smoothly. The weather held out nicely, and with the extra help on hand, we were able to keep on top of everything. Our friends from 4:20Q were right next door. Chris was able to get a few hours sleep! The cook went well, and as most competitors know, the awards can be grueling to watch…especially when you know you had a good cook!! Roy made it even more of a nail-biter by the torturous little game he played while calling the winners.
He called the top 5 teams in each category, but in random order! All 5 teams went to the stage together, then he called the 4th, 3rd and 2nd place teams to get their awards and money. So two people are left. 5th place goes home with nothing, and 1st gets a nice check and trophy. Well Dizzy Pig got top 5 calls in both Ribs and Brisket, so Chris was biting his nails while Dizzy Pig ended up getting 1st in both categories for a really special Grand Championship down in the heart of BBQ country!
