With Chateau Morrisette’s great location on top of a mountain and with the Black Dog Music and Que festival being right near Susan and Teresa’s house, Dizzy Pig decided to make the trip to Southern Virginia. Although this contest did not get the number of teams needed to be a qualifying contest for the American Royal and Jack Daniels, 21 teams showed up ready to cook. The weather was iffy . . . spotty drizzle, super dense fog, and a good dousing of rain on Saturday night that left Chris’ sleeping bag soaked . . . but the spirits were high!
We had a full team on tap, and our cook went really well. Cooking next to good friend Jay, of 4:20Q is always a blast, and it’s just as good seeing them do well! When it was all said and done, Dizzy Pig had 3 top five calls, and a 1st in Anything Butt! One of our highest scores of all time (681.6) was not enough to get it done. We settled for 3rd overall, while our good friends on Chix, Swine and Bovine ran away with the Grand Championship with 694.8 points . . . almost unheard of in this region.
Close behind, in the Reserve spot with a 692.5 was our neighbor Jay and 4:20Q! Congrats to y’all!!!
